Feeling smug with myself for getting up to 1,400k.
However I stumbled across the results and data pages on Zwift (not at all easy to find) and it appears that Rachael Elliott of the Newbury Road club has done a truly staggering 34,000k and team mate Tim Cartwright (who is a very quick TTer) is ranked no 1 in the world for Zwift racing.
It also gives all their (and everyone else's) data, watts per K, FTP, weight, height, loads of graphs.
Rachael's current 20 minute max av wattage is just over 305 ,mine is 185.I'm going to have another go this afternoon, time to move it up a bit I think. Rachael is comp record holder for the 30 with a 1.0.
I was 48 minutes behind the winner of the very hilly 3rd stage of the Tour di Castelli about 400th out of 500 starters. My wattage was half that of the winner.
See the top post .Poor Rachael E has had a stroke. She seems to be OK ,it was a small one but she already has a heart pace maker, she's going to have to learn to do less and that won't be easy for her.
She's very hyper (an excellent) in everything she does.
Pleased your going to race John. Your training well. I never train. Just ride a bike. Hoping the new sunday rides will speed me up tho. Must get some long rides in before Majorca tho, those Crawley girls are fast.🤐😨
OK. It's pretty obvious that I'm going to get to my target of 195 watts for 20 minutes so I am going to race this year but a very restricted program 16 events max (opens and club).
I have and will continue to restrict myself to no more then 2 open road rides a week (in the UK). All speed training will be done on the turbo.
If I enter an open event and the conditions are poor ie wet and or windy I will DNS.
I will only ride an event If I mean to give it at least 98%, no turning up and just going through the motions.
I will not have a bike in Texas for the first 2 weeks in March but should be able to keep what I've got with spinning and gym bike sessions plus some Zwifting, if I can get the son in laws bike to fit.
I'll have a week in Switzerland before Easter, there are some really good safe roads for tempo training, long shallow climbs 2 to 3%, repeated 4 to 6 times. My son has a Zwift set up as well.
My first open TT is likely to be on the H10/22 Marlow By Pass at the end of April after a weeks good steady miles in Mallorca.
192 watts, only 3 to go to be ready to race.
The warm up and pace judgement is so critical,(in my advanced years) get it slightly wrong and I'm in for a lot of pain.
Your very hard on yourself John. Keep it up 😉
