Our club rides

We strongly recommend that riders wear helmets on our club rides due to the close proximity of riding in groups.

We currently organise several weekly road and trail rides which

start at the Horton Country Park car park and are described below.

Saturday morning social rides - both road and off road trail rides

There are rides for on-road and off-road groups, meeting at 9:45am (to leave at 10:00am) at the main car park in Horton Country Park in Horton Lane (near to the Old Moat Garden Centre). The rides are to a café and usually return to Epsom between 1pm and 2pm. The pace is conversational and is not a training ride, although sometimes members go off after the café stop and do their own thing - and anyone wanting a training ride can do a longer and faster ride to the cafe. Each week we ride to different cafe's according to our cafe rota.

Road rides

Saturday meet at 10am except for the 4th Saturday

Club Road Ride suitable for beginners 20 to 30 miles at 12-14 mph and taking in a cafe stop as per the cafe rota where you will find the meeting place and start time. This is the best ride to join if you are new to road cycling or making a return after a long lay-off.

Sunday morning (find out more about the ride on our Strava Club page and use the join button to confirm your attendance)

Club intermediate / advanced training ride. 15-17mph and 50 to 60 miles. This is a training ride for those members who are time trialling or taking part in audax, sportive or triathlon events. Numbers on the day will dictate how many groups go out.

Here are our favourite cafe stops

The rides are published on the club's Strava Club page.

Off-road trail rides

Saturday 10am

Suitable for beginners or experienced riders (20-25 miles) with a cafe stop as per the cafe rota. We normally meet at Horton Country Park car park in Epsom, but occasionally this varies, so contact Barry Toogood to confirm you would like to join the ride and the email list for ride updates.

Tuesday and Friday 10am

For those happily retired, work-shy or with time on their hands, start from The Cricketers Inn , Stamford Green, Epsom KT18 7SR.  There is no fixed schedule and the route is agreed with the group at the start.  Length and difficulty will be adjusted to allow for whoever turns up.  We usually expect to return by 13.00-14.00 latest, but sooner in wetter or colder periods. If the ride is cancelled for any reason (usually severe weather), an email will be sent to all those in our email contact list (see above).

Wednesday evening

These are run jointly with another local club and details are HERE.

Thursday evening rides

In the warmer months and often just before our monthly club meet-up at a local pub.  Starts vary in Epsom, Ewell and Banstead.  They will always be announced by email a day or two in advance. We aim to finish at a pub for beers and a bite to eat.

Weekend or longer trips

We also run some longer multi-day rides each year (recently to the Isle of Wight, South Downs Way, Hindhead and the Taff Trail/Brecon Beacons) and occasional trips to off-road riding areas like the Surrey Hills, Swinley Forest and the Forest of Dean.   A group recently spent a week riding King Alfred's Way.
